College Week 2014 + Thank you’s.
Hi, everyone! Yes, it’s been ages since my last post because
of my super duper hectic-schedule (and I mean that, really) but noooowwww...
I’m here to share my experience of College Week 2014 at my school! Yay for
that! Are you eggzayyted? Okay. Hahaha!
( Warning: Photos are in low quality, taken via smartphone, and are limited, too. Too much text posts, please be calm. Hahaha.)
Okay, to start it
off..
The entire college week was assigned to us, the Project
Management students , who’s under Ma’am Pasion (so that’s 3C1 and 3B1/
Information System and Bus Admin Students fyi) but originally, it was supposed
to be a joint project of all the organizations inside the school so technically
a College Week --- as celebration all for the organizations including the one I
am presiding, SISM (an org for the IS students) but the project went the other
way since IS and BA students were given the chance to handle the event in
support for our PROJECT MANAGEMENT subject (so basically talking about it is
MANAGING A PROJECT but in a deeper thought, need I say more? Then just take PM
classes haha) so the Dean approved and it was indeed a BIG RESPONSIBILITY.
A meeting was conducted with the Dean and ALL the
organizations inside the school (acad and non-acad) to talk about the college
week, our adviser submitted or should I say suggested in the meeting that PM
students did a “PLAN” for college week~
The “PLAN” we (all PM) did was for a quiz, we were grouped
in four(s) and thought of ideas if we were to handle the College Week in a view
of a PROJECT MANAGER. We’ve given out all our ideas and were really giddy about
it and jumping into excitement just thinking if we were to handle it, but!!! Of
course, we know that it’ll be really a stressful one to begin with and since
it’s just an ‘if’ we gave the best we can and LITTLE DID WE KNOW THAT WE’RE
REALLY GONNA HANDLE THE EVENT. (Like, WHATTTT?!!!???)
So to cut it a li’l short, we had the “PLANS” for the
project itself. J
IT WAZ TRULY TRULY STREZZFUL T__T
- Delegating tasks, we had to grouped the bunch of PM students into five namely :
- · Design and Marketing – in charge of the designing, draft designs, advertising and etc.
- · Security and Crowd Management – in charge of crowd control and security, ushering and all
- · Finance and Monitoring – Well, finance and controlling..
- · Tools, Photogs and Program- in charge of taking photos, pulling in and out of tools and coordinating with the org’s programs
- · Overall Coordination- in charge of the overall/general concern with the entire coordination regarding the college week, the point of contact of everyone
How did it go, you ask?
Plan was having the following:
WEEK 1 – where planning, organizing happens
TEASER WEEK / WEEK 2 – where teaser has to be posted and let
it be known that there is something fun going to happen by next week
COLLEGE WEEK PROPER – the real event.
Okay, so unfortunately week1 until week 2 were not good as
how I perceived it to be since delays like, A LOT OF DELAYS happened due to the following
reasons: 1. Org’s zero-coordination (not all but most) , 2. People aren't
working as efficient as it needs to be. , and lastly, 3. We are also focusing
with FINALS since most of the subjects sched’d the finals a week before the
college week to avoid delays—which is very understable.
(Preparation, stressful I know. I know.)
More than anything else, when we are all stressed out and
excited at the same time, typhoon RUBY even ruined our PLANS for the College
Week so we immediately had to adjust and AGAIN create programs that will serve
as CONTINGENCY PLAN. OMG. Just imagining that is scaring me out.
The RUBY typhoon x College Week, was somehow a blessing in
disguise, to be honest, since we are all stressed out from the past week, the
three-day suspension also gave us a real break but ofcourse as soon as we get
to start the event proper, stress is crawling unto our body and eating us
whole.
What happened?
There were so many things happened that we didn’t expect to
encounter like the problem we had with the coordination with one of the org
officers (not gonna mention, lol) , being a call-center in a day and talking to
almost 50 people regarding the event (hahaha some even aren’t cooperating with
me, some are jejes hahaha), and WE HAVE ZEROOFUNDS!!!
However, we also planned it and made resolution! Some of our
members had to do caroling! Yayy! That’s super fun! (but again, stressful huhu)
I wouldn’t go in super detailed about the events happened
and all, but to top it all—The College Week was a success (I guess, well ,for
me haha). It really showed me so many things I haven’t yet to see and have
exposed me in different angles of organizing
an event!
And before I could be cheezy with this, please let me do the
ROLLCALL that the fb friends are waiting for, as for the people I would like to
express my gratitude to ~
